Our Team!

A brief history of the Project

The California Wheat Commission’s (CWC) Wheat2School aims to be the first edible garden program to teach students about the various aspects of growing and consuming whole grains! Originally beginning in 2021.......

Our team spands across the state of California, from Sacramento to San Luis Obispo County!

Claudia Carter

Project Director and Founder of Wheat2School

I started the Wheat2school program because I found a need to effectively educate students, teachers, families, and communities about the importance of wheat in agriculture, food systems, and nutrition. Wheat2school is the first Farm-to-School program to help schools include hands-on learning experience by growing wheat in school gardens, harvesting, milling, and baking a delicious whole wheat food for kids to taste. Wheat, as a whole grain food, is part of a nutrient-dense meal that provides beneficial macro and micronutrients to nourish our bodies.
